TuffyPack LLC manufactures a line custom inserts that provide a level of personal protection from ballistic threats similar to what law enforcement officers wear daily as bullet proof vests. TuffyPack Ballistic Shields® are built to meet Level IIIA threat requirements, they have been tested by an independent ballistic lab and the report is available on their site.
The ballistic shields when inserted into backpacks, briefcases or computer bags will provide the highest level of protection currently available as lightweight concealable body armor. Backpacks with ballistic protection weigh only 19 – 27 ounces more than a non-protected pack (based on the pack size). Additionally, the ballistic shields are removable when the user desires to use the pack in a low or non-threat environment.
Tuffypack panels are constructed using 24 layers of ballistic material made by Netherlands based Twaron.
Twaron is a strong, synthetic para-aramid fiber similar to Kevlar®. It is used in the global production of body armor, helmets, and ballistic vests, just to name a few.Twaron is also a light para-amid fiber. It is very similar to Kevlar having a highly impact property. Twaron is also five times stronger than steel. It is also chemical resistant and cut resistant. Its strength is not lost even if it encounters several abrasions and stretching.
Additionally, we found better performance-to-weight ratio by integrating Twaron into our products. You can confidently depend on our panels for protection against all kinds of handgun bullets, fragments, and against stabbing with sharp and pointed objects. We have chosen Twaron as our component fabric due to its global acceptance as a “go-to” solution for the ballistic needs of law enforcement and military on a global level. Our panels are die cut, tack stitched in 24 layer pieces and sealed in a moisture resistant black nylon outer cover that inhibits UV light and moisture that can reduce the useful life of the material.
We serialize each unit, write the build date and stamp each with a 5 year useful life.
